Jerusalem Jewelry

Jerusalem jewelry is one of my personal favorites when it comes to Jewish jewelry. When I look at such a piece, I don't only see beautiful and unique jewelry pieces; what I see is the deeper meaning of wearing Jerusalem.

Jerusalem jewelry goes back 2,000 years to the story of Rabbi Akiva and his wife Rachel. Before rabbi Akiva became a great scholar, he was a very poor illiterate man. When he married Rachel, the daughter of a wealthy man who disowned her for marrying Akiva, they slept on the hay in a barn. Akiva promised her that if he would have money one day, the first thing he would buy would be a jewel for her which he called - "Jerusalem of Gold." True to his world, when he too became wealthy, he bought her a tiara made of gold with a decoration of Jerusalem.

Today, Jerusalem jewelry can be found in many forms, including gold necklaces, bracelets, Roman Glass jewelry, gold name jewelry, cufflinks, tallit clips, rings and my favorite - Jewish pendants. These are wonderful pendants shaped like ancient Jewish symbols such as the Hamsa and Star of David. These pendants, which are full of meaning, when combined with a Jerusalem decoration, their meaning hits new levels.

So what is so special about Jerusalem? Well, it has been the capital of the Jewish people for over 3,000 years. Even when the Jews were in exile, they kept praying three times a day to be back in Jerusalem. It is the city where the world was created from and of course, it is where the holy temples stood and where the third will be built. Jerusalem has a unique gorgeous skyline unlike any other city, its buildings made of a special Jerusalem stone. giving them a certain signature.

So after seeing just how important this city is and how dear it is to our hearts, what a better way to put those feelings into actions and purchase fabulous Jerusalem Jewelry.
